We are searching for an experienced Assistant General Manager to lead our Telecom department. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the telecommunications department, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations. The Assistant General Manager, Telecom (AGM-T) ensures the telecom team achieves high levels of customer satisfaction by providing exceptional care of customers’ premises, delivering effective services, and resolving issues promptly. You will be an active partner in cross-department initiatives to drive company growth, elevate customer experience, educate the organization and develop people.

Additionally, you will be responsible for a significant level of planning including workload forecasting, warehouse management, and department budget. You will report to the President and work closely with internal departments. This role is 100% on-site, located in Ellettsville, Indiana. 


Duties and Responsibilities 
  • People Leadership (30%)
    • Establishes company priorities and department goals in alignment with business objectives
    • Responsible for performance management, evaluations and development of direct reports
    • Facilitates regular individual and team meetings to discuss goals, progress, and challenges
    • Approves Accurate and timely approval of timesheets and time-off requests
    • Maintaining compliance with all company policies
    • Ensuring all supervisory actions comply with applicable laws and regulations
    • Works with Human Resources on recognition and progressive discipline tactics
  • Operational Leadership (30%)
    • Manages multiple communication channels to assist Supervisors and Technicians
    • Conducts site visits to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), provide support to technicians and build rapport with customers
    • Establishes and develops vendor relationships to reduce cost and move towards just-in-time inventory management
  • Financial Responsibility (20%)
    • Accountable for the department’s impact on the company’s Profit and Loss Statement
    • Own and manage Telecom field operations metrics to drive efficiency and profitability of the telecom department
    • Develops long- and short-range budgets and work plans
    • Identifies opportunities and creates initiatives to reduce operational cost
  • Champions innovation (15%)
    • Monitors changes in the telecommunications industry to capitalize on new products and services
    • Leverages innovation to implement new processes, approach complex matters from alternative perspectives, and identify new products and services
  • Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Your Qualifications 
  • (Preferred) Bachelor’s Degree in Business or comparable Telecom industry experience
  • Proven experience in telecommunications operations, with a strong understanding of CLEC and ILEC work
  • Previous multi-layer leadership (leading other leaders) and team management experience required
  • Ability and courage to coach, develop and manage the performance of direct reports and team members
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in vendor procurement and contract negotiation
  • Ability to lead high-level strategic planning and meetings
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to learn complex business/operations support and workforce management software
  • Fundamental understanding of IP data networking, wireless networking protocols, security systems installation, video surveillance, and access control
  • Strong project management skills; ability to work to deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
